About Gift of Hope

What We Do

Fulfiling potential through education
Ramesh Shah founded the Gift of Hope Trust to help disadvantaged children fulfil their potential by giving them access to education.

What started in December 1990 as a desire to help poor children in Vrindavan, India, has since become a global foundation working with community-based charity partners and NGOs to build schools and educational establishments, opening up access to education to children across the globe.

How We Do Things Now

A charity with strong values of transparency
The Gift of Hope Trust has a strong ethical code; we are 100% transparent about how our funds are spent, with all money going to partners and projects.

We only work with community-based NGOs and charity partners who share our values: total financial transparency and a desire to help children access education regardless of their station in life.

Putting the Fun in Fundraising

We spread the noise and raise funds through regular fundraising activities, from our Rock for Hope concerts to our charity golf days and sponsored runs.

Got a great idea to raise much needed funds for us? Please get in touch, and let’s work together to make it happen.

Our Founder

“I realised education was the key to improving lives. I came from a poor background, and it was only education that allowed me to progress in life.”

– Ramesh Shah
Ramesh Shah came from an impoverished background, but he was later very successful in life. He attributes his escape from the cycle of poverty down to the education his parents and sisters worked hard to afford him. By setting up the Gift of Hope trust, Ramesh could give back, and act out his core mission of making this happen for other children in the poorest areas of the world.

Ramesh sadly passed away during the Coronavirus Pandemic in March 2020. His passing was a great loss to the community as he had always been there to support his family, friends, community and numerous charities.

The impact Ramesh made during his lifetime cannot be underestimated; the schools Ramesh supported through the Gift of Hope Trust have contributed to the annual education of over 4,500 of the poorest girls in India.

The Gift of Hope Trust will ensure that his legacy is remembered, and it is now our mission to grow this further and continue his brilliant charitable work.
